Terms of service

Effective and last updated: 6 October 2026. These terms apply to the CourseForge SCORM Editor and separately purchased LMS. See also our Privacy Policy.

1. The service

CourseForge provides a browser-based SCORM Editor and a separately purchased learning management system (LMS). The Editor supports uploading, visually editing, previewing, validating and exporting SCORM 1.2 and 2004 packages, with optional cloud projects and version history. The LMS supports course authoring and delivery, enrolments, assessments, evidence, learner progress, certificates, reporting and organisation workflows. Features may change as the service develops.

2. Accounts

You need an account to use cloud features or the LMS. You must provide accurate information, use a permanent email address, keep your credentials secure, and promptly tell us about unauthorised access. You are responsible for activity under your account. You must be at least 18 years old and, when acting for an organisation, have authority to accept these terms for it. Accounts may not be shared except through authorised Team or LMS memberships.

3. Plans and billing

Editor and LMS subscriptions are separate products. Prices are in Australian dollars and exclude GST, which is added at checkout. Editor Team plans are charged per paid seat. LMS plans are charged by tier and monthly active-learner allowance. Annual plans and any promotional pricing are described at checkout. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid billing period and partial periods are not refunded except where required by law. Failed payment, expiry or a plan-limit breach may restrict new uploads, saves, enrolments or other paid functions while preserving reasonable access to existing records and exports.

4. LMS learner counting

An active learner is a learner who signs in, opens or completes learning at least once during a billing month and is counted once for that month. Owners, administrators, trainers, assessors, employer supervisors, designated test accounts, suspended learners and archived learners are excluded. We provide warnings as an organisation approaches or reaches its allowance. We do not apply automatic or backdated overage charges; the organisation must move to a suitable tier before enrolling or activating additional learners.

5. Your content and records

You retain ownership of content you upload, including packages, lessons, assessments and evidence. You grant us a limited licence to host, process, reproduce and transmit that content only to provide and secure the service. You confirm that you have all rights and consents required to upload, edit and deliver it. An LMS organisation controls its learner and training records and is responsible for their accuracy, lawful collection, retention and export. Available exports and deletion controls do not replace your own backup and record-retention obligations.

6. Organisation administrators

Organisation owners and administrators control membership, roles, enrolments and access to their organisation. They must invite only authorised people, assign appropriate permissions, remove access promptly when it is no longer required, and handle learner information in accordance with applicable privacy, workplace, education and recordkeeping laws. Actions taken by authorised organisation members are treated as actions of that organisation.

7. Assessments and compliance

CourseForge supports assessment, evidence, competency, certificate and reporting workflows, but it does not make professional assessment decisions and does not guarantee regulatory, ASQA, RTO, accessibility or training-package compliance. Your organisation remains responsible for qualified assessors, valid assessment tools, moderation, learner identity, evidence sufficiency, record accuracy and all regulatory submissions. You must review generated reports, certificates and exports before relying on them.

8. AI-assisted features

AI-assisted voiceover and feedback features may produce inaccurate, incomplete or unsuitable results. You must review AI output before using or publishing it, ensure you have rights to the source material, and must not use AI output as the sole basis for a competency, disciplinary, legal or other high-impact decision. AI availability and supported voices or formats may change.

9. Acceptable use

You must not upload unlawful, infringing, deceptive or malicious material; violate another person's privacy; distribute malware; probe or bypass security or plan limits; interfere with the service; access another customer's data; create multiple accounts to evade Free-plan limits; or resell access without written permission. We may investigate, limit or suspend use that creates security, legal or operational risk.

10. Third-party services and compatibility

CourseForge relies on third-party hosting, payment, authentication and AI services. Their availability may affect the service. SCORM packages and LMS environments vary; previews, validation and visual editing cannot guarantee operation in every destination system. Compiled authoring-tool packages may support only the editing functions described in the product. You are responsible for testing exports and published training before release.

11. Intellectual property

CourseForge's software, design, documentation, branding and other service materials are owned by us or our licensors. While your account is in good standing, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the service for your internal business or training purposes. No ownership rights in the service are transferred to you.

12. Availability, warranties and liability

The service is provided on an “as available” basis. We do not promise uninterrupted access or that every defect will be corrected. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability arising from the service is limited to the fees you paid for the affected service in the 12 months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, or loss caused by your failure to keep backups or review training outputs. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded, including under Australian Consumer Law.

13. Suspension, cancellation and data

You may cancel a subscription or close your account using the available account controls. We may suspend or terminate access for material breach, unlawful use, security risk or non-payment. On termination, licences granted under these terms end. Access to retained records or exports may be limited after the applicable subscription or retention period. Data is retained and deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy and any mandatory legal obligations.

14. Changes, notices and governing law

We may update these terms as the service or law changes. We will provide reasonable notice of material changes through the service or your account email. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the updated terms. These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia, and the courts of Victoria have exclusive jurisdiction. If part of these terms is unenforceable, the remaining terms continue.
